Spencer’s career in the financial industry spans more than two decades. Over the years, he’s seen his clients through many market conditions and guided them with his experience. His main goal for clients is to help them achieve their income objectives in retirement. Spencer specializes in retirement income planning, financial planning, insurance review, retirement plans both individual and corporate and 501(c)3 and other charitable and religious investment advisory services.
He began his career in the financial industry in 1982 as a CPA* with Deloitte. Then, with a desire to help people plan their financial futures, he joined Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in 1986. Then, in 2009, he went to work for Morgan Keegan, which joined with Raymond James in 2012. As a managing director, he builds personalized investment and financial planning strategies based on the unique needs and goals of each client.
Spencer is a native of Charleston. He attended the University of South Carolina, where he earned degrees in business and accounting, and also attended the Moore School of Business.
Today, Spencer and his wife, Elisabeth, live in Charleston, and have two grown children, Gabrielle, and Sean. Spencer is active in the community in which he grew up and has served as President and Trustee of many cultural, Jewish, and philanthropic organizations in Charleston, South Carolina.
